Thanksgiving Thoughts

"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His mercy endures forever." (I Chron. 16:34)

"I will give thanks to You, O LORD … And sing praises to Your name." (Ps.18:49) 

"O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever." (Ps. 30:12)

So I gave thanks to the Lord…

1.  "Thank you Lord, for saving my soul. Thank you Lord for making me whole. Thank you Lord for giving to me, Thy great salvation so rich and free!"

2.  Thank you Lord, for my life partner. Carla is the greatest! She is my best friend! I am richly blessed!

3.  Thank you Lord, for my children: Andrew, Sarah, and Elizabeth. Each is born-again. Each is serving the Lord. There can be no greater joy than to see your children walking with Jesus!

4.  Thank you Lord, for friends. Early this morning a friend showed up at my office. He had no particular need. He had no pressing business. He came to visit with me, to encourage me, and to pray for me. He is my friend. Thank you Lord!

5.  Thank you Lord, for freedom… for America… for the troops that defend us…

6. Thank you Lord, for First Baptist Church. Thank you for a united heart, for a passion to worship the One True God, for disciples and disciple makers, for fellowship, for our world-wide mission…

7.  Thank you Lord, for forgiveness! 

8.  Thank you Lord, for partners in ministry. I am thankful for Judy Abernethy and her heart for God's people. I am thankful for our Sunday School Teachers. I am thankful for the musicians who lead us to the Throne on Sundays.  I am thankful for servants and committee members who meet needs which often go unnoticed. I am thankful for nursery workers, for the custodian, for TV and sound ministry, for youth and children's workers… and the list goes on…

9.  Thank you Lord, for the Bible. I am thankful for its instruction… for its promise… for its truth!

10.  Thank you Lord, for choosing me "for such a time as this." What a blessing it is to serve the Lord at First Baptist Church.

The song says, "count your many blessings; name them one by one… it may surprise you what the Lord hath done." Count YOUR blessings. It is a healthy exercise! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
